Commissioned by housing corporation Wonen Limburg, two facades of the Dempsey flat in Sittard were clad with ZigZagSolar in December 2021. A special project with a fantastic result. The residents of the flat were allowed to choose from a number of 'street art' variants, which were enlarged on the facade. A weather-resistant print was applied to the decorative reflective panels.
The solar panels have remained untouched so that they perform at their maximum potential and can be recycled more easily. Another important advantage is that this method allows for the use of the most beautiful colors with the most precise color reproducibility.
A total of 200 narrow solar panels have been installed on the facades, generating a combined yield of 16,000 kWh per year. This energy contributes to the common energy consumption of the apartment building. For the residents, this means significant savings on their service charges. For this project, ZigZagSolar collaborated with creative professionals such as FWP Architectuur and GOMAD Urban Art Studio.
