In October 2017, the ZigZagSolar facade on Eisenhowerstraat in Sittard was completed. The building is owned by housing corporation ZOwonen. ZOwonen faced the choice of demolishing or renovating. ZigZagSolar has enhanced the south facade of the Eisenhower flat and integrated it fittingly into the surroundings. Importantly, ZOwonen can offer its tenants a reduction in housing costs thanks to the electricity generated.
During the installation of the ZigZagSolar facade, the residents' privacy was not disturbed and they did not have to leave their homes. The facade generates 30,000 kWh/year of solar energy. This is equivalent to no less than 11 households. Thanks in part to the application of ZigZagSolar, this building will provide many years of comfortable living for the residents.
